Welcome to the OSSTF District 4, Teachers’ Bargaining Unit website.

Our local secondary teachers' unit consists of approximately 310 full-time and part-time statutory members plus approximately 100 occasional teachers who are employed by the Near North District School Board in seven secondary schools.

Members of the Teachers' Bargaining Unit are represented locally by a 15-member executive with Glen Hodgson as the local president. Within each school, there is a Branch President who serves on the local TBU Executive. Generally, the TBU Executive meets on a monthly basis and OSSTF members who wish to attend an executive meeting may do so by contacting either area office in order to make necessary arrangements.

There are two TBU area offices – one in North Bay with the phone number (705) 472-1408 and fax (705) 472-0759, plus a satellite office in Parry Sound with the phone number (705) 746-8005 and fax: (705) 746-8010.

OSSTF represents secondary teachers in matters related to collective bargaining, contract maintenance and professional services. Members with questions or concerns about matters related to these or other local issues should contact the Branch President or the closest area office.

OSSTF is also very actively involved with the program at the Faculty of Education at Nipissing University. Faculty students are associate members of the Ontario Teachers’ Federation (OTF). Faculty students who have questions and/or concerns about their practice teaching experiences or any other aspect of the teaching profession are encouraged to Glen Hodgson at 472-1408 or by email at osstf@cogeco.net.
